around town in west virginia

sutton, west virginia

i've been back in DC for a solid month now and am kind of starting to miss exploring the sleepy little towns of west virginia. i miss getting paid to be in the sun and hike and play with dirt all day. i miss the jeep. i miss the old town gas stations and hanging out with truckers in the morning. i miss the worn down towns and the beautiful pictures they make. and i miss sweet tea and peach cobbler.

hopefully heading back out on the 27th for a week or two of pre-autumn fun in the mountains!

adventuring for the weekend!

with this sexy lady:
{jill, apple picking, new york}

see you soon jilly!

i miss new york.

i spent a few nights up in new york last weekend i've never missed it this much after returning to dc. i had family time, city time, shopping, nights out. it was the perfect weekend.

we started with curry at the brick lane friday night, off to drinks in the village. saturday we brunched in park slope, then headed back to the village for window shopping and afternoon margaritas and aj's birthday (!) dinner. sunday we headed back to the village yet again for coffee, real shopping and lots of pictures. i need a trip back SOON.

late nights

how we keep ending up at Rocket Bar? not too sure. but a late night out that includes killer fashion, oooodles of PBR, and legthy stories of brent's recent escapades - not too bad.

crop mobbing

{crop mobbers, great falls, virginia. photo courtesy of crystaline randazzo}
-
another crob mob! i spent all day saturday helping out at Chris and Sara's Maple Avenue Market farm in Great Falls - a stunning piece of land owned by an inspiring couple who left their corporate career jobs to pursue a life in farming, providing local, healthy food to their neighborhood and local schools. they've got their own farm that you can visit and volunteer at any monday, and also their own store and funky truck where they sell their produce along with partner farms' goods and specialty foods.
-
and i met super cool freelance photographer crystaline randazzo. she has gorgeous galleries from various travels up on her site, and also gave a shout out to the crob mobbers on her blog! be sure to check her stuff out.

scenes from west virginia

so here's what the majority of my summer has looked liked - pretty sweet, huh?

while i'm soooo happy to be back in the city, my last week in the field rocked - the beautiful weather, the golden hay fields, the deer - we even caught a family (fawns included) prance away as we hiked through. elkins, WV is definitely worth a look.

Jim Darling Photography

i met photographer Jim Darling at the 9:30 club on monday night while trying to slyly score some tickets to the Broken Bells show. what a great guy - he hung out with us, chatted about his iphone photo project, helped up get our tickets and even took a few shots while we waited. check his stuff out.
